What to look for
Every 3 days, check the flowers. Small holes in flowers or tiny worms inside = pod borer (treat fast — they ruin the pods later). Tiny insects causing flowers to drop = thrips.
Every 2–3 days, walk the field early in the morning when the bugs are awake. Flat green or grey shield-shaped bugs on the pods = pod-sucking bugs. Even a few of them ruin grain. If you see them, treat right away.
